Hi again. My last problem was with getting Gnu to read mail on a Celerity. Doing a SETUID root solved that, and thanks for the help. My new problem is getting emacs-18.45 working on an IBM RT running 4.2. I built one with xwindows turned off, and it seemed to run correctly. I just turned xwindows on, and no running src/xemacs causes the system to access the disk quite a bit (as if it were starting up), but stopping there. No window trying to pop up or anything. typing ctrl-C in the startup window causes a "beep", and the only way to exit is ctrl-Z,stopping the process. Once again, any clues appreciated. --Pete

Is there another way to fix -this? I hesitate to have my users run their _very_ powerful editor as -"root"... Oh, dopey me.... I just checked with Peter Galvin... it's etc/movemail that needs to run setuid, NOT the editor itself... -- ///==\\ (No disclaimer - nobody's listening anyway.) /// Roger B.A. Klorese, CELERITY (Northeast Area) \\\ 40 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 +1 617 872-1552 \\\==// celtics!roger@seismo.CSS.GOV - seismo!celtics!roger
