[comp.emacs] Controlling Suntools from GNUemacs

sdl@MITRE-BEDFORD.ARPA (Litvintchouk) (07/29/87)

On a Sun 3 running the Suntools windowing system,
is there any way to start up and control various Suntools from inside
GNUEmacs? (GNUemacs is itself running under emacstool).

For example, i tried to start up a shelltool from GNUEmacs by
evaluating the following expression in a lisp interaction buffer:

     (start-process "shtool" nil "shelltool")

The shelltool window came up all right, but the shelltool refused to take
any input from the keyboard (or anywhere else). I imagine that trying
to send the shelltool input via the Emacs function
process-send-string won't work either, because the shell that
is invoked with shelltool is not known to Emacs.

so, is there any way to manipulate Suntools from Emacs?

Please reply directly to me. Thanx very much in advance!
