This discussion is getting boring. Why not just have two variables called
help-char and delete-char (or help-key and delete-key) and let users bind
them to whichever keys they want, rather than trying to force everyone to use
the same "intuitive mnemonics"? Customization is, after all, Emacs's strong
point.
[Actually, help-char should probably be help-string or help-key-sequence,
since ^X? makes a lot more sense (to me) than wasting a key on this function.
This would maximize customizability since you could always set it to ^H (or
any other single keystroke) if you wanted to.]
