[comp.emacs] GNU Emacs on Encore UMAX 4.2

lauri@MITRE-BEDFORD.ARPA ("Lauri A. Szklut") (09/28/87)

Is emacs supposed to run on an Encore Multimax 4.2 system? I noticed that
there is no "m-" file for the Encore in the src directory. I also noticed
( and I don't quite understand what this would affect ) that the Encore
does not have a /usr/include/sys/dk.h file equivalent which is used in
the loadst.c program. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, the Encore runs GNU Emacs. We're using 18.47, runs fine, though
the compilation of crt0.c generated about 50 warnings because the
Encore C compiler accepts #asm directives only under duress.

emacs/etc/MACHINES tells you what to do, but it's got a typo: the
s-*.h file is s-umax.h, not s-umax4.2.h.
