IUS@DACTH51.BITNET.UUCP (11/12/87)
Daniel, I have in the past advertized to info-ibmpc I would send 3.8i out to BITNET users but have held that until I got 3.9 which I now have (almost complete). Bruno Durasse of the BNANDP11.BITNET host which distributes the unix-emacs List to BITNET users has long agreed to have me store UUencoded ARCs for Emacs on this host which then can be grabbed by mail or interactive command (the latter only from within BITNET). I will of course also store the boot strap stuff and make a ready to go distribution kit for the IBM-PC which will use PKArc's fine selfextract utility. If I was to receive periodic updates from someone on ARPA (it has been awfully hard to get it so far) I would store always the latest version on BNANDP11.BITNET. As ARPA and BITNET are free it should be possible to mail the UUencoded ARC files ever so often from Purdue to this host, shouldn't it ? I do not have uSpell nor forsee to get it. And I guess the long awaited uScribe is still beeing worked on ? Monday the 23rd of November I will take the medical boards and afterwards I will have enough time for at least the coming 14 months to support uEmacs on the BITNET side. During that time I will also be willing to look for someone on BITNET to take it over after I leave Aachen. el Eberhard W.
