When gnu emacs (18.47.1) is running on a Sun 3 under X windows, the function keys (except for the arrow keys) send nothing to emacs -- it is as if no key has been pressed at all. Does someone know how to fix this? Gil Harman /~~\ | { ___ . | \__| | | ~~

You need a .Xkeymap file to specify how key strokes should be mapped. Read the keycomp(1) man page for details. By default, none of the function keys except for the arrows are mapped. You'll have to map them to use them. A few of us here have written some Lisp code to generate a complete keyboard mapping for the sun keyboard, along with some code to generate the appropriate keymaps and bind functions in these keymaps. I think we've sent this code back to RMS. I'll try put it in our anonymous ftp directory soon. cca >>>>>>>>>> | harvard >>>>>> | bloom-beacon > |think!rlk Robert Krawitz <rlk@think.com> rutgers >>>>>> | ihnp4 >>>>>>>> .
