Here's a copy of mail I sent to the na-net mailing list. Anybody know what the "real" digest standard is? From roberts@studguppy.LANL.GOV Wed Feb 24 11:24:20 1988 Date: Wed, 24 Feb 88 11:21:22 MST From: roberts@studguppy.LANL.GOV (Doug Roberts @ Los Alamos National Laboratory) To: nanet@patience.Stanford.EDU Cc: dzzr@LANL.GOV Subject: Udigestify problems. My mailer has had some problems undigestifying na-net digests, so I decided to compare a na-net digest with a sun-spots digest to identify the differences. I have no idea which one, if either, digest format is correct, but my mailer can handle the sun-spots digests and not the na-net ones. In comparing the two digests, I found the following differences: 1. The na-ne digest did not have the strings End of NA Digest **************** at the end of the message. 2. The separator between the first message in the na-net digest and all subsequent messages was a string of 24 "-" charactors instead of 55 "-" charactors as in the sun-spots digest. 3. The separator between all subsequent messages after the first na-net message is a string of 24 "-" characters instead of 30 "-" characters as in the sun-spots digest. I present these differences for your information only, since I have no idea which (if either) digest is in a "standard" format. --Doug =============================================================== Douglas Roberts Los Alamos National Laboratory (505)667-4569 dzzr@lanl.gov ===============================================================
