[comp.emacs] shell-mode history

DAVIS@blue.sdr.slb.COM (06/04/88)

	rbj@icst-cmr.arpa just mentioned that it would be nice to have
	shell-mode `up-down' history. I wrote such a beast about a
	year back when I was still in need of a VMS-style interface;
	it builds a list of all shell commands entered with RET, with
	optional exclusion of csh history commands (!whatever). By
	default, the up/down functions are bound to ANSI arrow key
	sequences, but only when at eobp - elsewhere these keys
	behave normally. I must say that I don't use it all that much
	these days, but if anyone is interested... I installed it
	as a standard here to help our folks cross from VMS to Unix..
	via GNU of course!
