Does anyone know when/if patches for GNU Emacs 18.50+ will be available
to let it run under SunOS 4.0?

Now.  Emacs 18.51 has sunos 4.0 support.  Haven't tried it yet, but the
relevent .h files are there.

From what I can see, it compiles it with -Bstatic, which forces the
final image to not use the nifty shared library capabilities of 4.0.
Is there any work underway to use them?
