Well, I've installed the changes to GNU Emacs 18.51 to accomodate the loss of expand-directory and the changes work fine as long as the variable TeX-directory remains set to "/tmp". One of our people here at ADS likes to change his TeX-directory binding to "./" though. This is reasonable because he likes to keep the # files in different locations according to the context in which he uses them. Problem is that when TeX-directory is set to "./"... TeX-buffer or TeX-region complain that the file name '#tza02015' does not exist. Looking at the code it appears that TeX-region just sets the zap-directory to TeX-directory, goes there and does it's thing. It should REALLY go to the path associated with the buffer containing the stuff you want to tex. Even grosser things happen when you set TeX-directory to "~/" Is this in fact the desired behavior for tex-mode? Doesn't seem as good as what we were using in 18.50 so I'm assuming not. -- John T.
