I just updated from 18.50 to 18.51 GNU EMACS on our VMS system. I'm having a bit of a problem with 51, however. After I press a C-G to quit a command (any command), my arrow keys no longer work. I've tried this with a VT-102 emulator (Kermit-MS) as well as a real VT-100, and had the same results on both. The arrow keys work fine up until the C-G, and then they die. I've hooked up an RS-232 probe to the serial port and I see that the arrow keys are sending the same ESC sequences before and after the C-G. However, EMACS never sees the ESC, and it inserts the subsequent letters as text. For example, OC for the right arrow key. To make matters more confusing, I've found that this only happens on our VAX, and not on our Sun. Also, if I Telnet into the VAX from my micro via NCSA's Telnet and an ethernet connection, the problem does not exist. So, it only appears to affect asynchronously connected terminals to our VAX. When I tried to duplicate this with 18.50, everything worked fine; the problem does not exist in 18.50. Any suggestions or clues would be *GREATLY* appreciated! Send them to LUKEN@VAX1.CC.LEHIGH.EDU please. Regards, Kenneth R. van Wyk Lehigh University Computing Center
