[comp.emacs] GNU Emacs 17.64 using ptys on UNIXPC

fst@mcgp1.UUCP (Skip Tavakkolian) (07/30/88)

Hello:

I just recompiled a copy of GNU emacs sources I have had for about two years
(ver 17.64), to reconfigure emacs to use the pseudo tty devices which I now
have (thanks to the person who wrote and posted it to comp.sys.att).

First, I could not dump xemacs, (UNIXPC running UNIX V 3.51). I finally got
xemacs by defining CANNOT_DUMP. Second, I couldn't tell emacs that I wanted
more than one foreground shell using ``shell''. How do I do that? Any help
on this and how to get temacs to dump xemacs would be appreciated.

P.S. everything looks find, i.e. executing ``tty'' in the shell buffer will
give me ``/dev/ttyp0'', and ``stty'' give normal tty settings, ``vi'' trys
to run, etc.

Many Thanks.
