[comp.emacs] Using diff files

cmh@SUNSPOT.LARC.NASA.GOV (C. Michael Holloway) (08/02/88)

How does one use the 'diff' files to update to a new version of emacs?
I'm sure there must be a way to use them other than editing files by hand
(since that takes longer than simply getting a copy of the new version and
installing it), but I haven't seen it documented anywhere.

I'm sure that this question has been asked before, but I haven't seen the
answer.

Thanks.

Use patch(1), available from your nearest friendly neighborhood
comp.sources.unix archive.
