A friend brought a tape back from MIT, a tar of compressed tar files from prep, with almost all of the GNU stuff. Unfortunately we're unable to uncompress anything, since uncompress complains about "corrupt data" after about 20 - 90 Kbytes of any file. I seem to remember something about some problem along these lines, reported a year ago or so, in this newsgroup. Could somebody explain, and perhaps even suggest a work-around?
