I'm having a problem getting emacs-18.52 to run under SunOS4.0. I built it for the IBM RT running 4.3+X11R2 and it works perfectly. Changing the config file to s-sunos4 and m-sun3, keeping X11R2 enabled produces an emacs which runs with the -nw switch, but keeps giving the error X server not responding. Check your DISPLAY environment variable. I've tried two changes - one was to recompile with gcc (1.29), and while that resulted in a much smaller and faster emacs it had the same problem. And on advice from ryan@purdue.edu I tried byte-recompile'ing the lisp directory and reloading emacs with the new libraries. That didn't help either though. Thanks for any help. --Peter ------------------------------------------ -------------------------------- Peter Baer Galvin (203)432-1254 Senior Systems Programmer, Yale Univ.
