Could anyone comment on the reason why Lisp was chosen instead of Scheme for GNU Emacs. I know that the historical Emacs editor family has always used Lisp, and that Lisp is the local environment language at MIT, but Scheme has also been around for a decade at MIT. I don't know the deep issues of the languages well enough to see why Lisp would be better than Scheme or vice versa. Can anyone in the know shed some light? Thanks.
