[comp.emacs] Problem with TeX-buffer

galvin-peter@CS.Yale.EDU (Peter Galvin) (12/13/88)

We are having a (probably simple) problem with the command TeX-buffer with
emacs-18.52. Using the latex-mode command and then giving the command
TeX-buffer causes an error of "Wrong type arguement: stringp, nil". I
thought I'd ask if anyone has seen this before I debugged it.... Thanks.

Have you installed file name completion under the shell-mode? It
breaks TeX-region as you described.

That was the problem. Loading the standard shell.elc before any shell-invoking
commands (the new shell.el is first in our search path) solved it. Thanks!
