I will put in a plug here for Freemacs available from grape.ecs.clarkson.edu (128.153.13.196). I have tried both Jove and MicroEmacs and found Freemacs nicer. It is fast, deals well with a mouse and generally gives me the kind of warm fuzzy feeling i like to get from a well built program. It also has a built in programming language, indeed it seems to be built on a kernel and everything above the kernel is in that language. I modified the c-mode to do more what i wanted than the original did, and though the language took a bit to figure out, it did not take very long to manage the modifications. The biggest problem is that the language is terse to the point of illegibility - but that is probably how the speed is managed. (Now if only i could figure out why deleting a file in Dired doesnt work). I like this emacs and heartily recommend it. jeff putnam -- "Sometimes one must attempt the impossible if only to jefu@pawl.rpi.edu -- show it is merely inadvisable."
