A friend is having problems getting Emacs 18.51 to work on an Iris 4D machine. He has version 3.1 of the operating system, but 3.0 is not much different. The problem is with the /usr/lib/crt0.o file, which seems to be missing on their system. etc/MACHINES says that 18.52 works. Can someone tell me if there is something critically different between 18.51 and 18.52? Can you tell me how you got Emacs up on your Iris 4D? Thanks. < Stephen

One of the differences between 3.0 and 3.1 is the link requirements and the a.out format. Since the bugs seem to be out, I am ready to generate diffs against 18.52 distribution (I haven't checked out the size of them yet), and am wondering about distributing them. I will, of course, send them to GNU, but what about on the net? Where would be the best place to post them? Or should I just offer to mail them to those who ask? Suggestions, please. ## Scott Henry <scotth@sgi.com> ## Silicon Graphics, Inc. # ## Opinions and actions and offers are just mine, other disclaimers apply. ## I don't work in engineering, I just get to have a 4D on my desk! -- Scott Henry
