I'm interested in obtaining a copy of MicroGnu. Anyone in the DC area have a copy I can get hold of? (No ftp, only mail here) It'd be nice to have a (truly) common editor twixt the micros and the minis.... /Mike Sys. prgrmr. Univ. of DC ^ ^ _ /| `o_O ( ) U

I have been using GNU-Emacs on UNIX machines, and I am interested in using something similar on DOS. What is "MicroGNUEmacs"? What machines is it available for? If it is available for DOS how big is it (I like to run my editor is a subprocess on DOS--so small is nice)? How can I get the source/binaries? Who wrote it? Is it free? And so on. A long time after pulling it off the news, I've finally installed and got around to using the MicroGNUEmacs posted just under a year ago by Bob Larson. I'm very happy with it, but I have two questions. First, in the README file that came with the code, Bob says: > It should support MSDOS, PCDOS, and the Rainbow if you swipe the sys > and tty files from the v30 distribution and modify them as specified > in the file systty.modifiers. Does anyone out there have the sys and tty files from the MicroEmacs v30 distribution (note this is not the same strain as the 3.X MicroEmacs that have been on the net recently)? I'd appreciate it if someone could mail them to me. My second question: will MicroGnuEmacs read a start up file? If so, what name does it expect? I've tried .emacsrc and a few others, but these don't work. Thanks in advance. R -- Robert Dale University of Edinburgh, Centre for Cognitive Science, 2 Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh, EH8 9LW, Scotland. I have just acquired MicroGnuEmacs 1a, and am looking for a few hints as to how to customise it. My first attempt at a .mg file crashes mg itself (what was it? the single line insert-file ".mg" On a VAX running Ultrix). I'd be grateful to anyone who could send (or post) a sample .mg file. I don't want to have to read the code in extend.c It came straight up, by the way. One make and I had an editor. Robert Lupton (lupton@uhifa.ifa.hawaii.edu)
