I tried to set mode-line-buffer-identification using setq-default in my .emacs file. But it doesn't seem to work. When I set it in the minibuffer, it works fine. It looks as if emacs sets that variable after loading the .emacs file. Any advice on how to do this is greately appreciated. Jagath Jagath K.
