Hello everyone, I would like to know what the best implemented version of EMACS for the IBM PC is. Perhaps a version of GNU emacs or microemacs. Sorry if this question has been asked before. Is there an anonymous ftp sight to obtain emacs for the IBM PC. I have tried MSDOS-Emacs. It's useable but very awkward. Please either mail me directly or post to comp.emacs, since I don't follow comp.sys.ibm.pc. Thanks, Maurice ************************************************************************ * * * Optics... Perhaps a version of GNU emacs or microemacs. Sorry if this ^^^^^^^^^^ Does anyone have any news about when the next version of Daniel Lawrence's version of MicroEmacs is going to come out? Will there even be a next version? And what about the MicroScribe formatter that he was working on? I have version 3.9i of MicroEmacs, and it's a great program. There are, of course, lots of "bells-and-whistles" which could be added, so I'm interested in getting a newer version of MicroEmacs (and I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting one). David R. Kohr, M.I.T. I have not yet succeeded since this announcement. I tried his supposedly non-beta 3.10 MS-DOS executable and found cockroaches, termites, scarab beetles and wood ticks.

Within an hour after typing this, my auto-dialer finally got through. It compiled easily and now seems to work just fine. The phone number is 317-742-5533. It takes about 1 1/4 hours to download everthing with Xmodem at 2400 baud.
