Well, I want to thank everybody who replied to me regarding Gosling Emacs mode under Gnu Emacs and where Gosling Emacs is now. I have received an impressive amount of mail - all helpful and correct. (Maybe I should stay out of talk.politics :-) :-)). To summarize, if anyone cares: You can purchase the commercial (and very good) emacs product called "Unipress Emacs" - call them at (201) 985-8000 or Telex them at 709418 or U.S. mail them at UniPress Software, Inc. Suite 312 2025 Lincoln Highway Edison, NJ 08817 Using Gosling Emacs under Gnu Emacs is possible, although not complete: Within GNU Emacs, there is a "Gosmacs" mode, that re-binds the keys and key sequences to traditional "Gosling Emacs" bindings. You can enter this mode by typing M-x set-gosmacs-bindings. To return to the GNU bindings, type M-x set-gnu-bindings. Just a note, Gosling Emacs is basically the version that UniPress sells (they bought it from Gosling, or something). It is also possible to conver Mocklisp code for Gosling Emacs to "true" lisp for GNU Emacs. To do this, either edit that file or visit it, and type M-x convert-mocklisp-buffer. Save the resulting buffer in a file whose name ends in ".el". If you have to learn GNU Emacs, I would recommend picking up a copy of the GNU Emacs Manual. They cost $15 and are available from: Free Software Foundation 675 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge, MA 02139 Once again, thanks to everyone who replied... -Mitch
