[comp.emacs] GNU emacs customuzation

keith@nwc3922 (Keith Kohout) (05/18/89)

I need some information on setting up some files for GNU emacs. To
start with, when GNU emacs starts which initialization files are called
and what are they? I am interested in initialization for a SUN
terminal,
VT100 terminal and VT220 terminal.
I have customized the sun.el init file using define-key to map
  functions
to keys and this works fine. But when I tried to customize the
vt200.el
file(which is used by vt220), I am having trouble defining a mapping of
the
function keys. In particular, I am using a PC 101 key keyboard that
puts out the sequence for F5 of <ESC>[1~ that I have not been able to
map using,
(define-key esc-map "[1~ 'enlarge-window) ; F5

If I want to use the edt.el file what do I have to do to load it? Do
I put a load-file statement in my .emacs file? If I what this done for
everyone in our groupwould I put load-file(or something else) in
another
file?

As you can tell, I am having much difficulty customizing GNU emacs for
my configuration. I am familiar with Unipress Emacs, but I don't seem
to
have the documentation to allow me customize GNU emacs. I have the GNU
Emacs
Manual, but this only very briefly talks about how to customize GNU.
Is
there anything that I can buy that talks about customizing GNU in
detail?

	Thanks Keith.
