Why does the mail notification in the mode-line remain even after I've read my mail? I usually do this by ^Z-ing out of Gnuemacs. (I know I can use rmail instead of mail, but mail seems to be quicker for small messages.) Is there way of eliminating this feature/bug? I tried an apropos on mode-line and mail, but wasn't able to find anything that seemed very appropriate. Oh and another thing. My RMAIL file is *very* big right now. Before embarking on some e-lisp programming, I wanted to find out if someone had worked on this problem? The solution that immediately comes to mind is to make rmail read-in and write-out a compressed RMAIL file. Opinions and/or suggestions? Gnuemacs version 18.52 on a Sun. Thanks. -- Vallury Prabhakar
