[comp.emacs] Emacs Recommendations Wanted

rock%warp@Sun.COM (Bill Petro - GSG Marketing) (06/13/89)

I am interested in recommendations on the two varieties of emacs that
are available to me. I have access to both UniPress and GNU emacs.
I have used a version of emacs at another company that provided MockLisp
extensions, and in which I had written a considerable amount of code.
While I do not need to reuse that code, I am familiar with MLisp, while
I am not familiar with the Lisp that GNU emacs used.

What I'd like to know is which of the two is better. By better I mean
things like easier to learn, availability of documentation (I have the
200 page GNU emacs manual), greater access to people to answer novice
questions, etc. Feel free to email me responses, or else we could
start a discussion. And if not a discussion, an argument. And if not
an argument, a flame war. The debate between vi and emacs is usually
religious. Is it so between UniPress and GNU emacs?
