We just tried to run GNUEmacs 18.53.1 on our Sun workstations running
Sun OS 4.0.
We have found a problem with the Suntools menu support (in sun-fns.el,
etc.). If a Suntools popup menu is invoked which has more than about
14 or 15 menu items, GNUEmacs crashes with Fatal error (6). On the
console window, the following message is displayed:
"Its child's process id was 456 and it died due to signal 6
and left a core dump."
An example of a popup menu which will crash: Select the "Mouse Help"
option from the popup menu, and select a pullright menu with more than
15 items in it. This will cause the above crash, even if no menu item
is selected from the pullright.
I tried experimenting with creating my own GNUEmacs-Suntools popup
menus using defmenu. It appears that any menu I define with more than
15 items will cause this crash.
Any ideas?
