Ohio State has graciously provided a site for the much needed Emacs Lisp archive. The directory pub/gnu/emacs/elisp-archive on tut.cis.ohio-state.edu contains copies of everything I kept in my personal archive, but there's much missing. These files are available via anonymous ftp and UUCP. There currently is no organization to the archives. I tried to name the files consistently with my Lisp Code Directory, but I'm not perfect. I'll be taking suggestions on how the archives should be organized. If you have anything you'd like to see added to the archives, comments, suggestions, flames, whatever, send me mail. I've also placed an updated copy of the Lisp Code Directory in LCD-datafile. -Dave Sill, elisp archive coordinator dsill@relay.nswc.navy.mil

Also a list of the directory so we will know what to ask for. Thanks, Keith

The general instructions for access to osu-cis' archives are posted
periodically to comp.sources.d. We may be due for a repost (I'll
check), but if your system respects Expires: headers, you should have
a copy around in that newsgroup, I believe.
One of the things which those instructions (~/GNU.how-to-get) tell you
to do is to pick up a copy of ~/ls-lR.Z, which is a file updated
nightly around 3am consisting of the output of "ls -lR" on our entire
archive. In that list, the directory gnu/emacs/elisp-archive is the
topmost directory in which these archives live.
Be aware that I am compressing the entire archive in the interest of
avoiding unnecessary disc space occupation. The ~/ls-lR.Z of
Wednesday morning will reflect this.

>Could you please give UUCP direction? Also a list of the directory so >we will know what to ask for. Sure. I don't have UUCP or know how it works, but I'm told that files under pub/gnu/emacs/elisp-archive on tut.cis.ohio-state.edu are accessible via UUCP as osu-cis!~/gnu/emacs/elisp-archive. If you need more info (someone mentioned needing a phone number) you'll have to contact someone at OSU (try Karl Kleinpaste at karl@cis.ohio-state.edu). Of course, I'd like to have complete UUCP directions on hand myself, so please send me any further info. I'm working on updating my Lisp Code Directory to include a field for the location and name of archived files, but that's not ready yet. -Dave Sill dsill@relay.nswc.navy.mil elisp archive coordinator
