[comp.emacs] Info on uEMACS

patrick@longs.LANCE.ColoState.Edu (patrick fitzhorn) (07/01/89)

I have a laptop IBM PCish machine that I am configuring to look as
much as possible like my Suns (UNIX, Lisp, and Emacs). I have the
UNIX and Lisp, but unfortunately not the Emacs. Consequently, I
am quite interested in obtaining information about public distrib-
ution (or purchasable) versions of EMACS that run under MS-DOS.
Reading the news groups yields a lot of discussion about an EMACS
called micro- or u-emacs. Where can I get it and/or others that
would fit the bill? Does micro-Emacs run on DOSish machines?
Thanks in advance for the info......

An executable for Intel architecture machines is available. Also
you can get the source. It's all in C. I've successfully compiled
and run it on: Intel architecture PCs running MSDOS 3.2 and 3.3,
VAX8600 under Ultrix 1.2, SUN3 under SunOS3.4, SUN4 under SunOS4.?,
IBM RT under AIX 2.x, and Intel architecture PCs running SCO XENIX
286 and 386.
