We are just about to install BITNET onto our 4.2bsd Unix. We have a DMF-32 board and want to use the synch port as our BITNET line. The BITNET installation tape includes unsupported dmf driver source from the University of Guelph that we will have to put into the kernal. Problem is that we are inexperienced re device drivers (our unix-wizard has left town -- are you reading this, G.M. ?), and aren't sure how to configure this thing properly. Some specific things we would like to know are: 1. What changes to make to our config file 2. Are there any other system source files that have to be changed before rebuilding the kernal ? 3. What special file in /dev do we need and how to create it using mknod 4. Others that I havn't thought of yet ... I would like to get in touch with any BITNET sites that are using the Guelph dmf driver and who can give us some advice on the above. Please reply to me directly and I will contact you by phone.
