[comp.emacs] Problems compiling ST uemacs: inverse video & bongs

grahamt@syma.sussex.ac.uk (Graham Thomas) (08/24/89)

Two problems with Atari ST umacs v3.10 compiled with Mark Williams C.

1) inverse video status line. This doesn't happen (with a mono
monitor), despite having set the INVERSE flag and having played with
the COLORS flag in estruct.h.

2) noisiness with TOS 1.0. On my home machine (1985 TOS, aka TOS
1.0), after uemacs loads, the bell (i.e. the sound you get when you
hit ctrl/g) goes bong-bong - bong-bong - bong-bong continuously. On
my office machine (1987 TOS, aka TOS 1.2) all is OK. I know the quick
fix is to turn off the sound, but can anything else be done?

Has anyone else encountered these problems, or even fixed them?

Graham
