Hi, Someone here (or on comp.os.vms, I don't remember) posted a fix to this problem lately. For reminders, the problem is Emacs getting the wrong directory default (in the minibuffer after C-x C-f, etc.) if a user starts up Emacs and has the global DCL symbol PWD defined (as opposed to undefined.) Killing Emacs, doing DELETE/SYM/GLO PWD and restarting Emacs fixes the problem, but someone had some code segment which allowed one to keep the definition. Could someone repost this? I let it slip by, thinking we would never have anyone define PWD here, and the next week.... sheesh. Oh yeah, VMS GNU emacs 18.55, VMS 4.7. Jeff
