[comp.emacs] emacs vs. Gnu-emacs

jaykay@cbnewsm.ATT.COM (jason.jihwan.kim) (03/03/90)

I'm a bored vi user looking for a new editor.
I heard that emacs is a powerful editor, but there are two versions of it
out there as I understand it, emacs and gnu-emacs.
Are they pretty much the same or are there any significant differences
that will make one better than the other?
I have no time to learn one and turn to the other one, after learning
the other one works better.

The most important criteria for me is which one is easier to use
(i.e. not much of Esc. and Cntl. key combinations to delete a character),
and has a potential to grow with me in power as I get used to it.
I mostly work on C codes and the text preparations (manuals and
memos, etc.).

Any significant replies will be welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
