[comp.emacs] Running emacs over telnet

anthony@batserver.cs.uq.oz.au (Anthony Lee) (03/15/90)

I've been using telnet to login on Suns and I run emacs
on the suns.
In emacs the "^f" key is the forward character key, if
I hit "^f" several times, the cursor takes a long long time to catchup.
A lot of you would say emacs run slower than vi but the strange thing
is hitting "^b" for backward character is actually quite fast. This
seems very strange to me, I mean if emacs is generally slower then vi
then you would expect "^b" to be as slow as "^f".

Are there any variables that I can set in emacs that will solve this
problem ?
