Help! We are having trouble bringing up 4.2BSD. I have talked to several people and nobody knows what our problems are. We have a vax 750 with about 2Megs of memory. We have the following controller and disks: SI 9900 Controller SI 9762 (RM03) - (33 sectors/track) - SI format SI 9766 (RM05) - (32 sectors/track) - SI format Note that the 33 sectors/track is non-standard, but I tried bringing up the system again after I reformatted the pack at 32 sectors/track and changing the proper switches on the drive and the very same problem happened. Here is what happens: I format the disk pack on another machine (running VMS). I can copy the mini-root to hp(0,1) (as in the Berkeley instructions). Now I try to boot from the mini-root :hp(0,1)vmunix it starts to boot (fine) and then asks boot device? I then type in hp0* and it then bombs with 80022FCF 06 Our facility manager brought 4.1 back up and made a file system on the disk thinking that this might help. It didn't. Any ideas? NOTE: Please respond by mail - I do not always read this newsgroup. Thanks in advance, [ you can contact any of our facility managers at: trwspf!expert, trwspf!fstop, or send stuff to me at either trwspf!vito (or barad@brand). ] -- Herb Barad [USC - Signal and Image Processing Institute] USENET: ...!sdcrdcf!usc-oberon!brand!barad or ...!{lbl-csam|trwrb|trwspp}!trwspf!herb ARPANET: barad%brand@usc-ecl.ARPA
