[comp.emacs] spell running under gnu emacs 18.55 on VMS?

Does anyone know if there is a version of spell that runs under
GNU EMACS 18.55.1 for VAX VMS?  I've seen the spell.el file 
on the [.LISP] subdirectory, but it doesn't seem to work.  Any
help would be appreciated.  Please e-mail me your responses
(the net doesn't need the traffic).  I'll summarize if there is
enough interest.  Thanks!
