If I am editing a file, which has a link to it (I am talking about UNIX ln) and I save it, then the link is to the backup file (file~) insteed to the file (file) itself. I can imaging, how this happens, but I would still prefer it the other way round. Is there a way to get this? Thanks Fritz

This question and problem seem to be fairly common, I would suspect
that many (most?) people use this mode. Perhaps it should be the
default?
Rather than waste bandwidth if you feel strongly one way or the other
mail me and I'll summarize.
