[comp.emacs] complaints with VM fixed in VM 5

In article <KPC00.90Aug27042532@JUTS.ccc.amdahl.com> kpc00@JUTS.ccc.amdahl.com (kpc) writes:

There is one thing that rmail seems to do better, which is to use
rmail-ignored-headers. vm uses vm-visible-headers instead, which has
the opposite meaning. I like to see unusual and unexpected headers.

This disadvantage has been removed from VM 5. In VM 5, you can display
all headers except those specifically ignored, and you can in addition
specify the order of those that are displayed. (Variables:
vm-visible-headers and vm-invisible-header-regexp.)

It does not convert rmail files.

The "rmail-to-vm.el" package will convert BABYL format files (which Rmail
uses) to Unix format mail files (which VM uses). This package does not
come with VM, although it should. (Get it from the Emacs Lisp Archive.)

VM 5 is still "officially" in beta test, and thus you should join the VM
bug mailing list to use it:

  bug-vm-request@cs.odu.edu

I have a list of changes that VM 5 incorporates. If you need help
deciding whether to upgrade, ask me for a copy.
