[net.unix-wizards] Tip passing literals

hurf@batcomputer.TN.CORNELL.EDU (Hurf Sheldon) (04/23/86)

I am trying to set tip up to connect via a mux channel to a system
that does an auto speed select via the break key being repeatedly
pressed until an * prints. A terminal connected to the mux works fine
but tip does not evoke the proper respose - I believe tip is set
correctly to pass a break (\b in setup line) but it seems a terminal just
drops xmt low when break is pressed whereas tip sends an ascii null
character with stop bits.
question: am i missing something in tip that allows a truly literal
passthru of break? Is there another way eg:kermit (same problem initially)?
any & all replies appreciated
