[net.unix-wizards] System V and DMF32

tom@logicon.arpa (Tom Perrine) (04/25/86)

Well, we got our System V distribution today, so we stopped the DEC CPU
diagnostic (after 12 MILLION! passes over 3.5 weeks) and got ready to do
the installation.

I *was* going to comment on how obcenely easy the installation was...

BUT!!! System V doesn't seem to know about a DMF-32 (we have a 780).
It also doesnt know about a DH either (conf complains about both of these).

So, my questions are:

Does System V Release 2.0 know about DMF-32s? If so, what is the device name
for the "dfile"? Or do I do something strange like treating it as a DH and an
LP (separate devices), in which case, how do I tell it about the DH?

Thanks,
Tom Perrine

UNIX System V Release 2.0 as supplied by AT&T for the DEC VAX
doesn't support the DH11 (not a DEC option) nor the DMF32.
You should consider running Ultrix-32 so as to get vendor support.
