Hi Net! I just moved from using rmail & superyank to vm 4.41 and supercite 2.1 and I'm having a small problem with my setup. When I use the 'r' or 'f' keys to reply or followup to a mesg, all is well and I can do C-c C-y to yank the mesg into the *mail* buffer with no problems. But if I try to use 'R' or 'F', which repley or followup to a mesg while yanking the text into the *mail* buffer for me, it barfs and uses the default vm-included-text-prefix, instead of supercite like it's supposed to. I've already (setq mail-yank-hooks 'sc-cite-original) in my .emacs, and since it works correctly with 'r' and 'f'... I poked around a bit and found that VM uses the function vm-yank-message to move the text. According to the documentation: ----------------------- vm-yank-message: Yank message number N into the current buffer at point. This command is meant to be used in VM created *mail* buffers; the yanked message comes from the mail buffer containing the message you are replying to, forwarding, or invoked VM's mail command from. All message headers are yanked along with the text. Point is left before the inserted text, the mark after. Any hook functions bound to mail-yank-hooks are run, aftert inserting the text and setting point and mark. Prefix arg means to ignore mail-yank-hooks, don't set the mark, prepend the value of vm-included-text-prefix to every yanked line, and don't yank any headers other than those specified in vm-visible-headers. ---------------- I tried (setq vm-included-text-prefix nil) in the hopes that it would work, but no luck. And I couldn't figure out where prefix was set at all. So I'm assuming the prefix arg is set. Now how do I turn it off? Or reset it? It really isn't too big of a deal, cause I think I could just rebind the keys to do a normal reply and then " C-c C-y", but I figure that would be a cludge and I don't know elisp all that well yet. Give me time, I'm learning it as I go along! thanks for your time and effort! Could someone tell me where I can find these packages - superyank, vm and supercite? Also, can supercite be used with rmail, or does it need vm? I am assuming that vm is a mail reading package of some sort, presumably different from rmail, so I'd like to explore it. > John -Satish -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Internet: Pai-Satish@cs.yale.edu | A.
