[comp.emacs] Auto-justify?

mleisher@NMSU.EDU (10/29/90)

Try (setq default-major-mode 'indented-text-mode) in your .emacs file.

Well, I think justification is for babies :-), but I like auto-fill-mode.
It took some detective work to find the relevant portion of the manual.
An example used was:

    (setq text-mode-hook
        '(lambda () (auto-fill-mode 1)))

The problem is that auto-fill-mode is a minor mode that gets reset for
every buffer. It is necessary to use the hook to have it restarted
for every new text buffer. -David-
