I find it fun to use the mode in which the find key moves to the next match of the string as you type each character. Sometimes when I am tired of waiting for screen updates, I ponder the possibility of using the option to disable this. By the time I make up my mind, I get to my location and forgive emacs for taking so long. The way it should work is to look at all the keys I have typed thus far, instead of updating the screen for each one as they arrive from the buffer. If the scanner would just empty the buffer each time it processes a key, it would provide the best of each worlds. I am not in a position to make this change myself, but I would appreciate this being changed in emacs. Thanks, -David- david@wubios.wustl.edu ^ Mr. David J.
