The truth is, I don't know the answer for sure to your question, so I'll simply guess. When you run Info, you are looking at a file that wasd probably created by whoever installed Emacs. Chances are the permissions on that file are such that you don't have write permission, so it wouldn't make any sense to edit the Info file, since you wouldn't be able to save the changes anyway. BUT -- if you want to edit an Info file, you can at least get the `e' command to work by doing `(setq Info-enable-edit t)'. Then it's a matter of getting write permission on the files in question, so you can save your changes. Read `File: info, Node: Expert, Up: Top, Previous: Top, Next: Add' for more information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |Eric Hanchrow sun.com!nosun!yamada-sun!eric | |Phase III Logic, Inc. cse.ogi.edu!yamada-sun!eric | |1600 N.W. 167th Place Beaverton, OR 97006-4800 USA | |Voice: (503)-645-0313 Fax: (503)-645-0207 as of 4-Oct-89| --------------Crackling-noises-OK--do-not-correct!----------------------
