[comp.emacs] Learning C-mode in GNU emacs

Warning. This is probably a dumb question. In fact I know it is
a dumb question, but here goes anyway.

I am trying to understand C-mode. We are starting up a project in
which we will be coding in C and I'm trying to see how GNU emacs can
help us follow some basic coding styles. I've seen some of the
documentation for C-mode, mostly that found from C-h M (describe mode).

What I'm looking for is for some more extensive documentation that
would help someone like me understand when the variables are utilized.
Is there such a document lurking about or do I have to experiment on
my own.

Also, if people have extended C-mode, I would appreciate hearing about
it. The same goes for how people have utlized it within a group project
environment.

Many thanks,

PS: We get comp.emacs but we don't appear to get the gnu.* hierarchy.
