david@dogmelb.dog.oz.au (David Le Blanc) (02/05/91)
I have just started using emacs, and wish to 'ease' the conversion by
using the vi commands I know!. However, vip has a few major differences, and
I have been trying to use the 'define-key' sequences given in the
info. Such as '(define-key vip-major-mode-map " " 'vip-forward-char)'
However, they all fall over and die, giving a 'Error in Init file' message
when emacs starts up.
(the define-.. commands are in the ~/.vip file)
Note that I cannot use 'define-key' from 'M-x'. It says [No Match]!! Is it
a command that is no longer available? or one only config files may use?
An equivalent 'local-set-key SPC 'vip-forward-char' entered interactively
works fine...
If anyone has a solution, could you please help!
Cheers.
David.
