Apologies if this is a FAQ: What is the technique in EMACS to change a single character that cannot normally be typed on the keyboard. In my case I have a text file that has line feed characters where it should have CR-LF instead, and EMACS puts it all on one line! Thanks in advance, Rob

What variety of emacs are you running? What version? What host? Just at a guess I suspect you are running some kind of microemacs under MessyDos.
