[comp.emacs] problems with epoch 3.2

I'm trying to compile epoch 3.2 on DS3100 Ultrix 3.0.  I get an 
executable temacs, but it seems to hang on this command:

./temacs -batch -l inc-vers

Anyone have a clue what is happening?  This command runs forever, and
it stays on the run queue using CPU. (the CPU time shown by ps
continually increases) 

I'm using s-bsd4-2.h and m-pmax.h (I've also tried using m-vax.h, and
I get loads of compile errors).

Could someone who has epoch working on DS3100 Ultrix please drop me
a hint.
