On May 4 (and other days) I used emacs on a file called impix.cc. Sometime during the day, emacs encountered an "Illegal instruction." I've also been using g++ on this file. Today I see that there are more files, named similarly, in the same directory: -rw-r--r-- 1 tracton 1494 May 4 17:02 impix.cc -rw-r--r-- 1 tracton 36085 May 4 18:07 impix.cc.combine -rw-r--r-- 1 tracton 34203 May 4 18:07 impix.cc.cse -rw-r--r-- 1 tracton 42802 May 4 18:07 impix.cc.lreg Did emacs create these other files? They have LISP code in them. If these files indicate a bug in emacs, do you want copies of them? I'm using: GNU Emacs 18.56.1 of Tue Jan 22 1991 on godot (berkeley-unix) --gregg tracton
