I am posting this on behalf of someone without access to the net. The problem is as he described it over the phone so my apologies if I get any of the details wrong. The problem is that when password aging is turned on on for a particular account on his machine (an Altos 486 running Xenix 3.01b), login does not allow that user to login. But when he looks at the aging parameters he has set (using pwadmin I think) they are correct. The situation was made very bad, because he rather foolishly set password aging for all accounts, including root! For some reason, which he tried to explain, in single user mode he could not access the hard disk (is this really the case or was he missing something?), so he had to reload the entire system from scratch. Luckily he had just made a backup... So could someone on the net please tell me what the status of password aging on the Altos machine is. Does it work? Also some suggestions as to what he could have done to get his machine going again without reloading from scratch.
